What is covered in this class??
1. A one-hour live online class time with an enthusiastic teacher! Plus you will get to interact with other students from all over the world!
2. Introduction to a wide variety of poets- Emily Dickinson to Shel Silverstein, Langston Hughes to Poe! Each week we will read, discuss and analyze poetry brought by yours truly, yourself and by your classmates.
3. Multiple chances to craft unique poetry you can call your own!
4. Detailed, kind and constructive feedback to help you improve, and hopefully enjoy more, poetry and the process of crafting it.

What is the target age group??
Since my background is with mostly Junior High students, that is who I will gear it towards. Is there flexibility with this- yes! We want to build a community of poets that can build up and encourage one another! Email if you have any questions!

How will this work??
Thanks to technology, it will be easy- thank you technology "geeks"! Once you have signed-up for the class and I have received your payment, I will send you a link via your email. Once it is time for class, all you need to do is click on that link and voila- we will be connect and in the "classroom"! No matter where you are, as long as you have a computer with Internet, we can "meet"!

What do you need?
~A computer!
~Reliable Internet
~A working microphone- you will want to be able to share your thoughts, read your poems (both found and created), encourage your classmates, etc!
~The ability to work outside of our class time for approximately 1-2 hours each week- this amount will vary as each student is unique!
~Paper- you will want to print off directions that I email you and the poems you create. That's it- there is no textbook so there is no added cost!
~A desire to have fun and expand your knowledge of poetry and poets instead of sitting still and being bored all summer.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog where I share about my tutoring options as well as the course that I will offer during the 2010 summer. More details about those can be found in the following posts.

Who am I? First of all, I am child of God, called, saved and covered by His Grace. Next, I am a wife to an amazing man, Al, married since 2000. I am also a mother to two amazing children, Addie and Alden. Thanks to The Potter's School (pottersschool.org) and this tutoring, I am able to stay home with my children. Before I had my children, I was an English teacher for 7.5 years, where I worked with both remedial and gifted middle schoolers. I loved it- and thanks to the online world, I still can! Now the chance to be a part of your family, if you so choose, during the summer months, is exciting!

It is my hope that my enthusiasm for literature and the joy of finding glimmers of God and His amazing Grace in it, will spark a passion for learning in your child and help them cultivate a strong Biblical World View.
